Oceansiders
No is temporary. Yes is forever.
Est. 2018 · Los Angeles
Stories with a human pulse.
calor humano (n.): the warmth people give each other. The feeling of a room full of strangers reacting to the same moment, together.
Great stories are everywhere. Artists brave enough to tell them honestly are rare. That’s where calor humano comes from.
Audiences can always feel the difference between a story someone assembled and a story someone lived. We make the second kind: an actor taking a real risk, a filmmaker with something to say, a room full of strangers feeling it at the same moment.
Our edge comes from the actor’s craft. To step into someone else’s shoes, you first have to step into your own. A character becomes universal when the artist brings their own vulnerability to it. Calor Humano develops and produces film and television with a genre engine and that kind of human core, and we look for the artists willing to go there, often before anyone else is looking.
Our mission
To champion human creativity: find exceptional talent, tell the stories only they can tell, and bring audiences together around them, wherever they are.
Every project starts with a person: a voice, a performance, a point of view only that artist could bring. We build the project around them, not the other way around.
We look for emerging filmmakers early and help their strongest ideas grow into features and series. StoryFlip Studio, now in development, is how we plan to do it at scale.
Genre stories that play in any room, with characters so honestly drawn that every audience finds a piece of themselves in them.
Feature film and series projects from Calor Humano and our collaborators.
No is temporary. Yes is forever.
What if he came back, and it looked nothing like the promise?

Joaquin Camilo is the founder and CEO of Calor Humano, which he started in 2018 to develop, finance and produce independent film and television. He runs the company end to end: development, budgets and finance plans, production incentives, deal-making and delivery.
His producing credits include the features Wake Up, Unverified and Wrong Side of Dead, co-executive producer on Starf*cker, associate producer on the series Marked, and co-producer on Zero Road. He is executive producer on the supernatural thriller What Remains, and he directed and produced Oceansiders, a short that earned 16 festival laurels and is now in development as a feature.
